REWE, The Nearby Grocery Store - by Owen B.

I have experienced many cultural differences between Germany and the United States during my time in Germany. One of them being the Rewe. The Rewe is one of the local supermarkets here in Holzgerlingen. It’s where most students go for food since it’s so close to the school. When you first walk in, you will see a fruit/salad bar with a sushi bar just to the right. Then, as you keep walking down the aisles, you will see a deli and then a Wanner Bakery (where we learned how to make pretzels). They have everything that an American supermarket would have and more. Plus, the prices are cheap; a meal can cost as low as $4.00, including a sandwich, chips, and drink. Students of all ages can go to the Rewe during their off period to pick up lunch or snacks. Like many other students at the Schönbuch-Gymnasium, it was always my go-to lunch.
