Chloe's Trip to Munich

On Saturday morning, I was able to visit München (Munich), which is the third largest city in Germany. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century. First, we visited the Nymphenburg Palace in which you can take a tour of the inside. It served as the main summer residence for the former rulers of Bavaria of the House of Wittelsbach. It’s one of the most famous attractions in this city. Then we drove to Olympiapark which is an Olympic Park that was constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics. It continues to serve as a venue for cultural, social, and religious events. Then we took the subway to a restaurant called Biergarten am Muffatwerk where we ate some yummy food. Lastly, we took the subway to Marienplatz, which is a central square in the city centre of Munich, and It has been since 1158. There, in the square, we were able to go inside the famous St. Peter’s Catholic Church, which is the oldest church in Munich and houses the skeleton of St. Mundita. Even though on the way home it was raining and we were exhausted due to all of the walking it is definitely worth it to visit this amazing city.
